The Lymington Palette Club was founded in 1954 by inspirational artist Violet Garrod, together with a small group of friends and local painters. Its aim was to share each others enthusiasm and critical appreciation of painting.
The objectives have always been to promote and encourage painting and aesthetic knowledge amongst the membership with regular visits from professional artists. They lecture on their work, demonstrate their skill and undertake critiques at monthly meetings.
Individual members exhibit at many venues throughout the country, whilst the club has an exhibition of members’ work every year in the area.

Whilst painting is the primary concern of the club some members are working in associated fields such as architecture, interior design, printing, sculpture, pottery, textiles and jewellery design.
